LIGHT DANCE

Suspended colored Lucite, wire rope, reflected light, moving colored reflections

42ft. h x 40ft. w x 8ft. d 1984

Commissioned by State of New Jersey for the atrium of University of Medicine and Dentistry, Camden, NJ.

My three-story suspended sculpture made of ¼” Lucite colored sheet and wire rope, is my attempt to create a three-dimensional painting in space. I chose Lucite because it approximates watercolor characteristics of transparency, light, color and gesture.

My moving organic shapes transport the ever-changing natural light from the exterior of the building onto the atrium surfaces depending upon the time of day and the change of seasons.

The installation varies in appearance from each level of the viewer's perspective.
